Oi guys..
I never really got the internal wlan to work on my Amilio 2732, I have always used a USB ZyXEL adapter when needed. This has always worked when I used Xubuntu and the Gnome Network manager [I think it is] When I once tried wicd [on Xubuntu that was] it failed, I did test wicd just because it was said to work great with the wlan.. didn't get it to work.
Now since installed DL 3.5 I have ponder if that USB adapter would work as its wicd, and it doesn't. I really not sure why.
Anyway after searching around on this forum and so, I found this thread to perhaps be the absolute right one I have searched for hehe... Well after reading richs-lxh post that we should try to do
sudo athload madwifi
or
sudo athload ath5k
I of course did that and got this result:
Faie@Tir-na-nOg:~$ sudo athload madwifi
ath5k currently loaded, going to try to unload the module...
Disabling ath5k ... [OK] Module disabled:
/lib/modules/2.6.28.5-1-i686-dream/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ath5k/ath5k.ko
Enabling ath_pci ... [OK] Module enabled:
/lib/modules/2.6.28.5-1-i686-dream/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/madwifi/ath/ath_pci.ko
MadWifi loaded successfully!
So I thought yeah.. but of course no.. I tried iwconfig to see if there was something but nothing.
it said no wireless found. I then did something I read in one of the many threads I been looking at
modprode ath_pci [Oki this might just been stupid, guess one shouldn't play around when to tired lol]
But I was at this site about madwifi-project.org and read about the different cards. It was then I found
this:
http://madwifi-project.org/wiki/UserDocs/MiniPCI#FujistsuSiemensAmiloLi2727withAtherosAR2425AR5007EG802.11abgPCI-erev01Oki I have the Amilio Li 2732 but in my lspic I get:
08:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 04)
So I thought from that madwifi site where that AR242x are sort of same as AR2425 / AR5007EG I thought well perhaps here is what is my problem as I never get it on-line. So I went to synaptic and installed
acerhk .. then was about to read more on the above link..
I went to /etc/modprobe.d but couldn't found that /option and start to ponder if that is something I should create, as I couldn't see the /etc/modprobe.d/madwifi either.. I have become unsure what to do.
I'm not a puter wizard lol but if someone would like to explain I would be greatful [ponder its time to get to bed now]
What I have thinking is that I should add thus lines in thus files I have to create.. am I close or waaay out?
Peace ppl
