Yes, XfCE worked right out of the box. LiveCD and hard drive install. Installer worked great. My laptop is:

Yes, it did for my Acer Aspire One 110;
After fiddle-ing with the xorg.conf by changing the graphics-driver from vesa into intel.

I also installed a few iconsets to make it look like a MAC, but that's just my habit...

DL 3.5 works great on my aged Athlon 1.6g desktop. The Debian updates tend to hose my OS though. DL 3.5 also worked well and recognized everything on a HP NC6000 series laptop until it thermalled. I also tried it on my Acer AOA-110 netbook but couldn't make the Atheros wifi work, the resolution correct, and DL ate it's batteries quickly.

I've always found the installer (which I like) to work more reliably if you first use a partition mger to delete and reformat your hda's. For this reason I miss GParted on 3.5, and always add it later.

DL's choice of aps is so close to what I would choose anyway, the speed is better than most, and the layout looks pretty. Over time now I've tried or used Mandrake, w98, w2000, wXP, wVista, OS-8, OS-10, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, 64Studio, Dyne-Bolec, DSL, Puppy, Knoppix, Crunchbang, EEEbuntu, and Linux4onelite. I 've always hated the Ubuntu/Gnome permission scheme, and prefer being able to write files anywhere or be root easily. Not bold enough for Alpha but looking forward to 4.0! Overall, it works on my Lenovo R61i. I like the interface for connecting wirelessly; rarely a problem.

However, I noticed that it does not detect the SD card but XP and Ubuntu does see it.

Also, does DL35 have updates like Ubuntu and other Linux distros? I don't see anything detected.

Modem support (yes, I know so old), but it would be nice to have this functionality available.
