I double checked the burn along with the .iso file and get the same issues.
My mouse only works in the vertical plane am unable to get horizontal movement. (I tried a 2nd dvd burn it did the same as the first)
I open a terminal and did a dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg without any change to my issue with the mouse.
My wifi failed to initially connect however was able to get a ip with dhclient eth0 in the terminal.
My laptop is a Lenovo R61e, I would of liked to provide more details while in the live but not having a mouse killed any support from a desktop.

Not having mouse support is a show stopper for me.
