POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
Hi everybody, we need to get some feedback on how things are going.
After you have obviously checked the iso Md5sum and burned to a quality Cd/Dvd at the slowest possible speed, because you have read and followed our advice
How was the Live CD/ Install for you?
If it worked, Great !
If it didn't, Boo!
Please post your hardware details, the iso you've installed (yes there are people who have got hold of RC or earlier releases), and any other information we can use to help you.

I already see an Xfce NO vote but no info posted. Which doesn't really help us.

yes both of them works but in both of them I can not succeed in making a portable persistent install to a usb flash drive have 6 of them have tried all methods mentioned in all over the forum I have even tried the method wich I was able to install using vmware and virtualbox, but no luck so far
Jessie, the poll is about if the distro installed ok to your computer. The pendrive install scripts are completely separate.

Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
Hi All,
voted for "Xfce not working", but forgot to post details. Sorry for that. Here there are some:
Booting on an old Toshiba Portege 3480CT. DL 3.1 works very well for me, but DL 3.5 last release doesn't. Checked md5sum to be ok.
Error is something like kernel panic and that "/dev/console" couldn't be opened.
I think after the first part is booted, the second part couldn't
find the CD-drive, even the HDD is detected as hda.
I need to further investigate this, but had this problem already with DL 3.3 and the 3.5 gnome test release. If I got more information, I'll post it here.

Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
Thanks for the feedback Spunky.
The console problem has been seen before, I think that if you post on the install support board we will be able to help you with that one. I don't really want this poll to turn into a support thread, but maybe if members link to their support posts from here would be a better idea.

Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
well it worked ....partial.The live cd started but the install wasn't too easy mainly because you forgot to add the button with the partitioner in the installer window. Well I moved on and used pmagic to make the partitions and installed in vmware. The installation went well but the network wouldn't come up(in the same virtual machine the live cd was able to connect). Then I tried to install on a spare old hdd. The installation seemed ok until I rebooted and somehow the installer forgot to create the /home/my_user directory and I was presented the option to use /root instead which of course didn't work. It seems the final has problems which were not present in rc4. I'll try another install to see , maybe something went wrong the first time.Another strange behaviour is in wicd which seems to ignore the wired connections and tries to connect to wireless even if there is no wireless (the wired interface was detected as eth0 and works under linux)

Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
Everything worked OOTB on both LiveCD and after installation.
Wired connection (which is all I have) detected and also Compiz worked OOTB.
My graphics card:
Code:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO] (rev 01)
My network card:
Code:
00:0e.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
May have some small things to sort out, but overall ... kudos devs
Nice touch the new splash screen.

Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
Well, it looks great. But although DL recognizes my Intel 4965AGN, I can't get a connection in the live-cd. I must be doing something wrong; IP, Netmask, Gateway
In Windows it's only a matter of setting the WPA-passphrase. Can someone give me a hint ?
And why does a window open in a corner instead of the middle of the screen ? How do I change that ?
It may be obvious; I never used linux before.

Linux is a personal matter!
Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
Hi everybody,
just installed on my Acer Aspire 1300 (i know it's old).
In live session all OK, also the web connection with my cell phone, using Gnome PPP.
I had setup my live version, then i installed and all my customization worked fine.
In live session i installed Bluefish and now i have my complete system.
The installation process worked fine and faster.
Within about 20 minutes i had my DL 3.5 "Tre e Mezzo" onboard of my laptop.
Tomorrow i will install "Tre e Mezzo" on my BenQ R23E.
My compliments to all developers, to all of forum members and to Richs for his titanic work for this wonderful distro.
Ciao Ciao :-)

Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
No systemsounds in gnome DL 3.5
On laptop Dell c610, 500MbRam, installation o.k. Wifi o.k. Nice screensavers, but,
I hear no systemsounds, no startupsound, in sound-preferences no sound. (They were o.k. in DL 3.3 Xfce).
How to enable system sounds?
In Sound preferences 'Devices' the testsounds do function (also dvd's and music), but only after I have a sound started up in MPlayer. I can't start sound up in Movieplayer.
Under 'Sounds' I can't hear anything...
Still some work to do overhere :-) Any hints are welcome!
Update 1;
Seems that I have upgraded the system with debian because in synaptic 'smart update' is default instead of 'default upgrade' ?
Update 2;
Fresh install first boot from harddisk;
Startupsound works, no systemsounds, no dvd (not yet installed)
Second boot;
No sounds!
Why??
For more, see under Install and Setup Support.
This is absolutely no Distro for beginners, this is a real hobbylinux! Enjoy!

Elite is not everything. There still is legendary!
Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
Installed Xfce. So far no problems. In order to have my native screen resolution of 1680x1050, I had to install the NVIDIA driver through easy-install and make some changes to my xorg.conf. Sound, Video, DVD, Compiz, DVB-T, wired Internet, Iphone via ssh with Amarok, everything works as it should. Thumbs up, devs!

LOOKING FOR A BUCKET WITHOUT A LEAK......
Re: POLL: Does Dreamlinux 3.5 work for you?
Hi guys
sorry, been a little busy...LOL
Well, it is official Dreamlinux has gone to even greater heights. I love it. Wouldn't mind some time to mess with it a little but otherwise brilliant.
The biggest deal has been the md5sum which even caught me out...I know I have a leak...don't need to remind me.
Great Distro, great forum, great team, god this list is getting longer...LOL
Have I covered everything?
