Hello all!
I downloaded and burned live cd and it boots perfectly! On the Beta-2 I had trouble...the internet did not start and I had to use the usual acpi=off and no splash trick. Great job and thank you!! This is a nice program...everything I am looking for.

My PC: Emachine T2482
2400+ AMD XP
512MB PC2700 Ram
Biostar M7VIG 400
S3 onboard video 32Mb
DVD and CD/RW
Comcast Internet

Is it possible to "remaster" Dreamlinux iso?
I mean that I add a little bit of personal stuff (my aliases, a few scripts) and have it available
into the .iso before burning? Also can Dreamlinux already be installed on hdd?

Thanks for reading Smiley

Yes you can remaster the iso in several ways. The process is quite involved and the instructions/help available is convoluded and really thin. There are tools that would require serious mastery that specialize in this area and are quite expensive. Your best bet is to do an install and configure your system hot (while operating it as normal) installing everything that you want while un-installing everything that you do not. Clean up all the system garbage and fragmented files; etc. and use the native make distro tool that comes with Dreamlinux.

Make Distro operates like a disk imaging utility, for example Acronis takes live backup images of your hard drive, but will only concern itself with your Dreamlinux install. Once your desired configuration is operational and optimized you basically make a copy of the entire system install for burning to a rom. This is a back door type of remastering in the abstract sense that the original ISO has now been superceded by a newer configuration.

To actually remaster an ISO from a flat file or binary perspective is a serious undertaking and is almost as maddening to think about as programming in hex or octal. Your best bet is to go the Make Distro route with frequent visits to the Dreamlinux forum's "How To" threads.

Hope this helps ya' out.

Just delete the .1 at the end of the iso filename and then it should be readable.

Hi !
Very nice job. I had some problems installing the 2nd ver. then with the 3rg I followed the advise from a post and installed the X server without no more problem. By now I am not able to keep the awerty keyboard layout and french language but I suppose this will be done at the next step. I already like very much this distro Cheesy

You should be able to keep the configuration by selecting language in the Control Panel and then open a terminal and do:
Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
and then one of these, for GNOME and Xfce respectively:
Code:
gksu gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

gksu mousepad /etc/X11/xorg.conf
In xorg.conf you change the line:
Code:
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
to reflect your language, save and exit the editor and do a restart.

Hi all, I'm running this on my Gateway W34 laptop, it works perfectly & is the only distro that I've tried that works with the wireless board. So many thanks for a fine distro,
btw I'm located in Hampshire, England.

I have always liked Dreamlinux, particularly the Xfce4 version so I downloaded DL 3.0 beta 3.
But I had problems with the Live CD which failed to recognize my video system.
So I manually edited  xorg.conf with the correct data from another Sidux partition
